Artist Statement

My pottery is made with the intention of being used, looked at and touched.  Bringing together key elements of form, color and surface design, I strive to make pieces that appeal to one's visual and tactile sense while continuing to serve a functional purpose.  Predominantly wheel thrown (stoneware and porcelain), my pottery is often decorated with surface carvings or brushed/trailed slip designs as I work to create interesting textures and patterns on them.  To complete the process, I apply a variety of glazes and colorants to my bisque fired ware before firing them again to more than 2200 degrees in an oxidation environment.  I hope that you enjoy looking at and using my functional artwork as much as I enjoy making it!.
